Peyton whiffs the first play of maybe the last big game of his career. (Animation on next page).

By the way, who looks more gay here, Broadway Joe or the ref who catches the coin? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that…)

IMO Manning has not dropped at all. Yes, he made mistakes that should not have happened and his OL sure let him down, etc, etc, etc. seahawks came to play above the line and they did!! Denver never looked like it was game day even before the game started. Say what they want but I’ll stick to it

Peyton is a no doubt first ballot hall of famer, of course, and is awesome to behold when he’s in his element. On the other hand we can’t dismiss his history of choking as bad luck or happenstance. It’s happened enough times under the big bright lights that there has to be something to it.

The problem is that his team is so dependent on him that they have a hard time stepping up when he falters. If we recall the 2005 Super Bowl, the Steelers team stepped up when Ben was suffering from clenched sphincter on the big stage. He still had his moments, of course, but he was definitely not himself. On the other hand, a couple of weeks prior to that the Steelers defense made Peyton look like a piker and his team could not step up to make up the difference.

I guess being so awesomely talented and strong willed about being the center of everything can work against you in a big way if you have an off day.

Imagine if you could combine regular season Peyton with postseason Eli, you’d have the ultimate Manning.

Peyton Manning, as good as he is, is the most over-rated QB in NFL history.
