Finney looked a lil like a peak Faneca and his enthusiasm is unquestionable imho; a definitive upgrade over Foster
If Foster had needed to sit one more game and Finney had put on tape another performance on par with his Kansas City game, we would have had a controversy in all likelihood. To his credit, Foster also brings leadership, a thorough understanding of the offense and a mature understanding of opponents’ defenses. But there is no denying what we saw Finney do.
The scheme of this play is so good that I can’t help but keep analyzing it. The fake end around to DHB will at various points pull 3 different defenders away from the direction of the play. Aware of the timing of the play, Harris allows his man to “beat” him to pull that defender away from the play. (Bell catches Ben’s pass almost on the exact spot where Harris’s man first makes contact with him) DdC also sells his “you beat me” to the DT before proceeding down field. The key is Pouncey single handedly handling the NT. If Jesse James holds his block a little longer and if DdC had once again hit his DT who had circled back, the play would have gone for a lot more yardage. Love me some Todd Haley and Mike Munchak. Nobody ever talks about how well they must be working together.
